Texas quarterback Shane Buechele will transfer to SMU, he announced on Twitter. The former Arlington (Tex.) Lamar standout started 19 games for the Longhorns during his career, including all 12 his freshman season in 2016 when he became the first Texas quarterback since Colt McCoy in 2009 to have at least 2,500 passing yards and 20 touchdowns in a season. Buechele is expected to be able to arrive on SMU's campus in June in time for an entire summer of work with the team and will have two years of eligibility remaining. With the transfer of SMU all-time leading passer Ben Hicks after the season, SMU wanted a veteran quarterback to enter the mix alongside the likes of true sophomore Will Brown, redshirt sophomore Austin Upshaw, redshirt freshman Derek Green and true freshman Terrance Gipson,A and landed that in Buechele. Buechele ended his career with the Longhorns ranked No. 10 in school history in career passing yards (4,636) and No 9 in career touchdown passes (29). Buechele will remain on the Texas campus this spring working toward finishing his degree and has all facilities available to him. Read the complete news article here...More Featured News
