Now playing on two legs once again, how good can Clemson DT Dexter Lawrence be in 2018?

Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is one of, if not the most-lauded interior defensive linemen in college football. The No. 2 overall recruit in 2016, Lawrence is a national champion, an All-American, and a candidate to go No. 1 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Yet, even more impressive than the junior's statusA a€” orA statureA at 6-foot-4, 339 poundsA a€” is the fact that he's now played half his career on essentially one leg.A

Lawrence missed two games last season with what was described as a foot injury, although both Clemson's coaches and Lawrence, himself, underplayed how serious the injury was, and how long it had been affecting him.

"I was about 45 to 50 percent last year. Now Ia€™m feeling much better," Lawrence said after Clemson's practice Tuesday. "Ita€™s a big turnaround for me. Ita€™s a blessing. I didna€™t know if it was ever going to come back. I just kept with it, and now ita€™s coming back more."

The Wake Forest, N.C. native underwent surgery on his big toe following his freshman season but said he contracted nerve blockage during surgery, which kept him from putting much weight on his toe or the foot it's attached to.
